Everyone loves a rubber duck, right? Of course! And here’s one more reason to love them….they help raise money for charities in the form of duck races. Duck races have become quite popular around the world. Chances are, there will be one happening in your city in the warmer months. In this case -deep in the heart of Texas- Rockwall County has created an entire festival around the duck race to help raise money for Boys & Girls Club and Meals on Wheels of Rockwall County. With the support of community sponsors, the Rockwall Rubber Duck Regatta will become an annual community-wide event to raise much needed funds for these two organizations.
Race day (September 22) will begin with a 5K duck dash. Then a “duck fest” with vendors, arts & crafts, jewelry, entertainment, food, and more will take place most of the day. There will also be a duck pageant where jumbo ducks will be decorated by corporate sponsors and judged for a prize ribbons. Then the ducks will be raced at 1:30 for the covenant Golden Duck Trophy!
At 3pm the big race takes place! 5,000 little blue rubber ducks will race down the fountains at the Rockwall Harbor toward the finish line in hopes of winning their adopted owner an awesome prize! Will your duck win? It can only win if you adopt a duck by clicking here. You need not be present to win.
